As the name shows. Balrampur College Balrampur, in Balrampur Block of Katihar District, is situated on the border of West Bengal This college is in an extreme interior and is a backward area. In the time, when this college was established, there were no roads, and no electricity even the local residents were not interested in education but in due course, its mindset changed and this way today the college with ten acres of land, multistory buildings, large classrooms. playground, library, laboratory, and approach road from the state highway connecting Behar and Bengal, which is only 100 meters away with plants and trees on both sides, has a unique identity
Now, coming on the establishment its establishment is the brain child of a great man Late Biplab Kr Chaudhary, a land lord of this area. Thus, under the chairmanship of Founder Headmaster of Balrampur High School Late Parmanand Thakur and the leadership of Late Biplab Kumar Chaudhary the college namely "BALRAMPUR COLLEGE BALRAMPUR came in to existence on 10th January, 1984. Sri Rajeshwar Prasad took charge as the first Principal.
It got permanent affiliation from Human Resource Department of Bihar Government in 1987 vide letter no-15A -0/9/89 मा0 वि0 (मानव संसाधन विकास विभाग, पटना) in the following subjects 1 English. 2. Hindi, 3. Maithily, 4. Sanskrit, 5. Oria, 6. Nepali, 7. Bangla, 8. Urdu, 9 Arabian, 10. Persian, 11. Pol Science. 12. Economics, 13. History, 14 AIH & Culture, 15. Sociology, 16 Geography, 17. Psychology. 18. Philosophy. 19. Math, 20. L.S W., 21. Rural Economics, 22 Music. 23. Home Science with the teaching post strength of 65 (Sixty five) in Arts faculty only. But as on and before 19.04.2007. there are only 21 professors including Principal, 12 Clerk and 16 peon in all.
Currently, with 10 acres of land area. the college without any outside help has 12 classrooms, Library with two thousands books. Principal chamber, Staff room, Laboratories for Geography, Home Science. Music. Psychology, 7 rooms for office, computer room with computer and printing machine: a generator room with powerful generator girls common room with attached latrine and bathroom: 8 toilet rooms for boys, 2 latrine rooms for boys students: a large cycle and motorcycle shade; a canteen room etc.
Now with lush green campus, renouned and learned teachers, overall good academic results by its students, the college has established its name in the academic arena. Thousands of students from nearby Bengal state and Bihar have passed from here and have established their superiority in the govt job of West Bengal and Bihar.
This college has raised the literacy level of a large area. The students from Barsoi Balrampur, Kadwa. Azamnagar of Katihar district, Malda, Harishchandarpur Raiganj Tungidighi, Karandighi, Dalkola of West Bengal, Kishanganj district and Baisi of Purnea district of Bihar etc.
